NYIT celebrates new academic year

The New York Institute of technology (NYIT) has celebrated the new academic year 2009/2010 in a ceremony held under the patronage of the university’s Chairman in Middle East Dr. Mohamed Hussein and President of the Jordan University for Science and Technology Dr. Wajih Oweis.
The celebration, which took place on NYIT’s undergraduate campus on the Airport Road in Amman, was attended by faculty members, administrators and freshmen in undergraduate and graduate programs.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Hussein said: “With the start of the new academic year, we wish our students, both who joined us in the past and newcomers, a year rich in knowledge and new learning experiences. We are fully confident that these young people with such tremendous potential energy will dedicate their capabilities to serve their Arab communities.”
He said the university is keen to invest in this young energy, enhance leadership skills among them and empower them for a bigger role in all fields. He underlined programs that university has introduced to meet the aspirations of the youth on the one hand, and the requirements of the coming stage, on the other.
He pinpointed NYIT’s sustained policy of introducing novel services and programs that keep up with new developments at the academic and administrative levels adopted by mother NYIT.
In his address, Dr. Oweis commended the strong relationship between his university and NYIT, extending congratulations and best wishes to the freshmen.
Meanwhile, President of US-based NYIT Dr. Edward Guiliano joined the ceremony through the visual conference technology. Addressing the students and the rest of the audience, he emphasized that realizing the concept of global learning is among the goals the university is pursuing through its branches around the world.
